Cherry Plum
FearFear of losing control
Step 1 · State (recognise)
There's a high tension inside, as though emotion might break through at any moment — and that itself is unsettling.
Step 2 · Allow (the core)
I allow the tension to be seen, without having to clamp down on it right away.
Step 3 · Back to the body
Notice your jaw or your hands. The body is touching, the body is breathing.
If you'd like the body to hold this state more easily, this is a good place to start.

In depth
【Emotional signature】
Cherry Plum often shows up in people under enormous internal pressure who are still working to stay in control. Emotion feels like it's circling the edge, and you worry that if you let go for a second, everything will come apart. This isn't really losing control. It's the tension accumulated by long suppression, endurance and severe self-discipline, holding body and mind at a threshold.
【Through the lens of neuroception】
What this card reflects: when the body senses strong energy inside, it rushes to lock everything down so nothing "happens".
In this state, the body may show:
* A clenched jaw, teeth pressed together without noticing
* Hands gripping, as if holding something in place
* Shallow breathing, the body ready to respond at any second
This is not a problem. It is one of the ways the body tries to prevent things from breaking — it's just that this level of alert concentrates the pressure further.
【How this essence supports you】
The support of Cherry Plum is in keeping you company inside that intensity. It doesn't ask you to drop control now. It lets the body slowly feel that not holding everything down doesn't necessarily mean collapse. When fear stops being pushed away, steadiness returns to the system in a more natural way.
【Today's practice】
When you feel the pull tighten inside, pause first. Let your attention rest lightly on your jaw or your hands. There's no need to change your breathing — just know that the body is breathing. Let the sense of contact be there, and give the body a little time.
【Working with MUNI Scent】
Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Then rest a hand near your jaw, or let your hands fold over each other, and let scent and touch keep you company, without expecting anything to change.
Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly —
let the scent become a buffer, while the body slows down inside the intensity.
How to work with this
Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts,
and not about making the body become something.
It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel,
so attention has somewhere to rest.
This is not for the sake of pushing emotion down,
nor to prevent losing control.
It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening.
No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.
For practitioners
If you are using this card with a practitioner:
* Slow your voice and keep it steady; avoid reminders to "stay calm" or "relax"
* Watch for the jaw releasing, the hands opening, the breath lengthening
* You might say: "Nothing needs controlling right now. Just let the body be here."
When you use MUNI Scent together:
In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to come down from high alert,
so steadiness isn't held in place by force — it comes back on its own.
