Pine
Despondency and despairSelf-blame, guilt
Step 1 · State (recognise)
You blame yourself easily, taking on responsibility even when it was never entirely yours.
Step 2 · Allow (the core)
I allow myself to be forgiven, without going over it again and again.
Step 3 · Back to the body
Notice your chest or your belly. The body is touching, the body is breathing.
If you'd like the body to hold this state more easily, this is a good place to start.

In depth
【Emotional signature】
Pine shows up when self-blame runs heavy. You may habitually trace mistakes, regrets and imperfections back to yourself, reviewing and reproaching inwardly even when the situation was never wholly yours to cause. This isn't an overdeveloped conscience. It's a sign of how much you care about order, relationship and responsibility — it's just that over time the inside grows heavy and tight.
【Through the lens of neuroception】
What this card reflects: the body uses self-blame as a way of preventing another mistake, so the vigilance stays turned inward.
In this state, the body may show:
* Pressure in the chest, as if carrying an apology at all times
* The belly tightening; high sensitivity to error
* "If only I had done it differently" replaying in the mind
This is not a problem. It's one of the ways the body keeps order — it just leaves you carrying far too much weight.
【How this essence supports you】
The support of Pine is in slowly loosening the excess of self-blame. It doesn't deny the value of reflection, and it doesn't ask you to forgive yourself at once. It lets the body gradually feel that responsibility need not be paid for with punishment. When the blame steps back a little, the space inside naturally widens.
【Today's practice】
When the self-blaming thought surfaces, pause first. Let your attention rest lightly on your chest or belly. There's no need to change your breathing — just know that the body is breathing. Let the weight be felt, without hurrying to push it away or explain it.
【Working with MUNI Scent】
Press a small amount of MUNI Scent into your palm, or open the bottle near your nose and take three easy breaths of it. Then rest a hand on your chest or belly and let scent and touch keep you company, without expecting anything to change.
Smell is the only sense that skips rational analysis and reaches the centres of emotion and memory directly —
let the scent be a reminder to the body: order doesn't have to be kept with punishment.
How to work with this
Body awareness here is not about hunting for what hurts,
and not about making the body become something.
It's about choosing a part of the body that is relatively easy to feel,
so attention has somewhere to rest.
This is not for the sake of proving your innocence,
nor to force yourself to let go of guilt.
It is simply keeping company with the experience that is happening.
No intervening, no correcting — letting awareness unfold on its own, once it's allowed to.
For practitioners
If you are using this card with a practitioner:
* Keep your voice gentle and respectful; avoid steering towards "it wasn't your fault"
* Watch for the chest releasing, the breath returning to the abdomen, the body's weight settling
* You might say: "You've carried a great deal. You don't have to punish yourself as well."
When you use MUNI Scent together:
In a shared scent environment, the body finds it easier to set down self-conviction,
so carrying is no longer the same thing as suffering.
